Located at the entrance of the world-renowned Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha, Nebraska, “Reflection” creates a warm and welcoming environment for visitors. The flowing metal sculpture, which spans over 120 feet, is located near the entrance to the building. A color palette for the piece was inspired by the beautiful colors of the changing seasons in the Midwest. Elegant and gracefully flowing shapes echo the organic shapes of leaves and flowing water in nature.
“I wanted to create a piece that was energetic and conveys movement. Not only does the piece represent the hope for tomorrow, but the power of a determined and optimistic spirit. By layering and weaving the pieces in and out of each other, I was able to create more dimension and texture. It is my goal is to create a connection between nature and the cancer center, evoking inspiration, and instilling a calm sense of reflection.” ~ Sculptor Matthew Placzek
