Anchoring the Children’s Hospital at the OU Medical Center, “Spirit” captures the innocence of youth in a heartwarming, colorful setting. It embodies the dreams of the imagination and hope for tomorrow. The installation features twelve stainless steel and acrylic kite sculptures, along with three larger-than-life bronze children celebrating the joys of life.
Outside the entry, the kite sculptures, several of which stand 18-feet high, are made up of six and seven-foot-tall individual kite.The sculptures create an illusion of floating and drifting in the breeze, seemingly captivating the wondrous eyes below. The multicolored kites glow vividly, powered by more than 2,500 LED lights. The shimmering sculpture creates a sensory spectacle at dark.
“Spirit” is dedicated to the nurturing, caring and healing of the children being treated within the walls of the hospital.
